Leyla Mohamed

Leyla Mohamed is a dedicated journalist and media leader, serving as the Editor of Radio Ergo at IMS (International Media Support). Radio Ergo is the sole platform providing daily humanitarian information to Somali communities, often in hard-to-reach and crisis-affected areas. Leyla manages a team of 40 journalists across Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia, ensuring that accurate, timely and life-saving content reaches millions in some of the region’s most challenging environments.

Leyla is currenty pursuing the Climate Journalism course at Oxford University. She holds a postgraduate degree in Journalism Innovation and Leadership from the University of Lancashire in the UK, a master’s in Diplomacy and International Relations from Kenyatta University in Nairobi, and a bachelor’s in Public Administration from the University of Somalia (UNISO).

With over 13 years of experience in Somali leading media houses, Leyla has consistently demonstrated her commitment to impactful journalism. Her work in broadcasting, media management, women’s leadership, mentoring and training is widely recognised, reflecting a career built on purpose, integrity, and service to the public.
