Leah Kimathi

Ms. Leah Kimathi is a social researcher and activist specializing in digital rights, governance, peace, and security in Africa. As Founder and Executive Director of the Council for Responsible Social Media, she champions Big Tech accountability through a feminist decolonial lens on the continent. She also serves as National Convener for the Peace Actors’ Forum, a coalition of over 50 Kenyan civil society organisations in peace and security.

Globally, Ms. Kimathi co-chairs the Emerging Technologies Working Group of the Women 7 (W7), a lobby group of the G7, and holds advisory roles with the Digital Democracy Initiative, the Global Coalition for Tech Justice and the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (IDDR) Training Group. She is also a distinguished Claude Ake Scholar/Activist.
