Emanuele Sapienza is the Global Lead for UNDP’s work on promoting an open and inclusive public sphere. In this role, he oversees policy development and programme support in the areas of civic engagement, access to quality information, and inclusion of historically marginalized groups in public life. With over 20 years of experience as a development practitioner, Emanuele has served at the global level with UNDP’s Governance and Poverty practices, focusing on issues of participation as well as distributional justice. Furthermore, Emanuele has worked on different aspects of governance at the country level in Egypt, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and as a regional advisor in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
