Elsebeth Søndergaard Krone

Elsebeth Søndergaard Krone (MSc [Political Science], University of Aarhus and University of Western Ontario, 2006) joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in 2007. Ms. Krone is currently State Secretary for Development Policy. Prior to that, she was appointed as the Danish Ambassador to South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zambia and Zimbabwe from 2023 until 2025. She acted as Director for Department of Green Diplomacy and Climate in 2022-2023, and Director for Department of Centre for Global Cooperation, Danish Energy Agency in 2019-2022. Overseas, she has served in Indonesia as deputy Head of Mission (2016-2019) and in Afghanistan as First Secretary (2010-2011). In the period of 2011-2014, Ms. Krone was Private Secretary to the Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation. Moreover, from 2011-2014 she was Private Secretary to the Minister for Development Cooperation. She has also worked in the department for Strategy and Policy Planning, Department for Africa and Department for UN, the World Bank and Global Affairs at the Ministry.
